Another great set of lectures on the middle ages, absolutely loving this series. ( ) Het vervolg op The Early Middle Ages (al werd deze serie, High Middle Ages, eerder uitgebracht). Net zo goed, maar iets anders van opzet. Early had een overkoepelend begin- en eindcollege, met aandacht voor de historiografie en de kernvragen over deze periode. Voor de rest zat de reeks toch vooral chronologisch in elkaar. High gaat thematischer te werk, met pas aan het einde een paar colleges over chronologische, politieke geschiedenis. Meestal gaat het over een sociale groep: adel, boeren, burgers, monniken, wereldlijke clerus, vrouwen of academici. This course of twenty-four lectures examines the period know as the High Middle Ages (1000-1300). The first eight lectures cover medieval society.
