Imagine having a secret crush on a person since elementary school. You are in your late 20's working as a bartender and in walks your crush. Your crush who is now a famous footballer, and doesn't recognize you, who is fall down drunk, him. While drunk Rex makes a shocking proposition, Abigail's life will never be the same. Such a fun read, as always Penny Reid writes some of the best characters. I loved all of them in this book. The banter between them was LOL worthy. The road was long for this relationship but such a great ride. I love Penny Reid books, so I was very happy to find this start to a new series. It's a slow-burn romance and a second chance for Abby who's had a crush on Rex, her high school football star. Rex has gone on to fame and fortune but is mostly known because of the way all the women he dates go on to marry his friends. A chance meeting in the bar where Abby works leads to an unusual meet-cute. Abby has given up on love, dating, and men, though there's still a small flame burning for Rex who is just a sweetheart. I really enjoyed this story. The characters are real people with real feelings which I bought into completely (a Penny Reid trademark btw). Abby and Rex are cute together and I look forward to more in the series. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

HTML: Rex "TW" McMurtry's perpetual single-hood wouldn't bother him so much if all his ex-girlfriends didn't keep marrying the very next person they dated, especially when so many of those grooms are his closest friends. He may be a pro-football defensive end for the Chicago Squalls, but the press only wants to talk about how he's always a groomsman and never a groom. Rex is sick of being the guy before the husband, and he's most definitely sick of being the best man at all their weddings. Bartender Abigail McNerny is the gal-pal, the wing-woman, the she-BFF. She's dated. Once. And once was more than enough. Privy to all the sad stories of her customers, 'contentment over commitment' is her motto, and Abby is convinced no one on earth could ever entice her into a romantic relationship . . . except that one guy she's loved since preschool. The guy who just walked into her bar. The guy who doesn't recognize her. The guy who is drunk and needs a ride home. The guy who has a proposition she should definitely refuse. .Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I thought this was really cute, I only wish the story would have moved along a little faster. The middle dragged when they were not communicating their feelings. It seemed like Abby should have seen how Rex was feeling about her.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Joy Nash. She did a great job of reading Penny Reid's quirky dialogue. I look forward to reading or listening to the next installment of this series. ( )
