Majority of people goes through the new baby is being born and do not like it because they think it will take their spot. This was a cute story because at the end Lisa accepted her baby sister Lila and began to love her just like the rest of her family. Everyone should get a chance to read this book because I am sure they can relate to this situation. This entry into The Misadventures of Gaspard and Lisa is quite charming. It's in most ways typical of "new baby" stories, in that Lisa moves from resenting her new little baby sister Lila to being posessive and loving of her over the course of the story. Lisa has her own sassy charm, though! And the illustrations, with bright blues, pinks, and yellows dominating, are winning. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

The illustrations in this book are quite unique; they look as though they are paintings, which, in my opinion are beautiful. The colors are very contrasting to each other making the book even more engaging to the readers. Also, the illustrations most definitely support the text throughout the story. For example, the text reads, “My mom has been pregnant for a very long time, and I am tired of it. She can’t run to catch the bus. She makes me carry my own schoolbags.” The illustration shows that Lisa, the main character, waiting at the bus stop, bragging her own school bag, as her mother is still walking to the bus stop to catch up to Lisa. Poor Lisa, throughout the book she is very angry that her mother is pregnant, and then becomes extremely jealous when her new baby sister is born. The language in the story depicts her emotions very well. For example, her parents are trying to decide on names for the new baby and Lisa says, “I told them I have some good names: Doofus for a girl or Goofus for a boy.” It is cute humorous, however, you can get a sense of how a new big sister might feel when a new baby is on the way.
