This early chapter book is the non-fiction account of the life of Abraham Lincoln that is connected to the Magic Tree House fiction story Abe Lincoln At Last! Based on their magic adventures meeting Abraham Lincoln, Jack and Annie have a lot of questions about his life. This is a wonderful book recounting Lincoln's life from childhood to his assassination. The back of the book has wonderful references for further research. There are wonderful side bar notes and information throughout the book and the story is very readable. This is a wonderful option to encourage early readers to explore the life of Abraham Lincoln in a way they will find interesting. In the reading of this book they will learn wonderful things about Lincoln's difficult childhood, his perseverance, and the difficult choices he made when he was president. A must in any social studies classroom library. This book is a non-fiction about the life of Abraham Lincoln. Osborne and Boyce write many books in their Fact Checkers series that are easy-to-read biographies for children. This book is written objectively and as matter of fact. It goes through his life from birth to presidency to death. This book is a great way for children to get information and learn. Review: This is a Magic Tree House nonfiction accompaniment to the book "Abe Lincoln at Last!" It is a kid-friendly biography of Abraham Lincoln's life. After the biography is over, there is a list of more resources you can use to learn more about Lincoln. I think this is a great book to include in a classroom library. It is a Magic Tree House book, so students will already be familiar with the style and series. It is written in kid-friendly language and was created in an engaging way, so students will not get distracted or bored. There are a lot of pictures to support the text, and good information and additional facts are written in the margins to support the text. I think any child who is a fan of history would enjoy reading this biography of Lincoln.
Uses: This book could be used during a unit about the presidents, or used during a research paper about the presidents or Lincoln. It could also be used as an example of a biography.
