I was really concerned that this was going to become anti-friendship and that the ultimate message was that she needed to find a husband instead of a friend. Thankfully, it ends with her being strong enough to stand on her own two feet with the support of her friends, and that was very lovely.

I wanted this to be a tad more ridiculous, but it was nonetheless pretty great. ( )

When I started this book, I really wasn't enjoying it, but I hate to give up on books so I kept at it. As I pressed on and got more familiar with the characters I started to enjoy it a bit, and I looked forward to the follies I knew were coming whenever Amelia had an encounter with an ex or a potential new suitor. I was ready to give this book a thoroughly passable rating, as it wasn't really too different from any other book of its genre that I've read, but then… THE AWARDS SHOW. I almost put down the book right there, even with only three or four pages left. On a positive note, I thought I knew what the result of Amelia's husband hunting was going to be from about halfway through the book, and I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong in the end. But that awards show… nope. ( )

Vanaf haar 16e hoort Amelia Lockwood de bruidsklokken al luiden maar 21 jaar later is ze nog steeds single. Ze heeft alles wat haar hart begeert (topbaan als televisieproducer bij een soapserie, prachtige woonruimte) maar nog steeds geen echtgenoot. Ze besluit de cursus ‘Hoe kom ik als 35+er aan de man’ te gaan volgen. Daar krijgt ze de opdracht tien vroegere exen op te zoeken om te leren uit het verleden. De ontmoetingen met haar exen hebben hilarische en soms pijnlijke gevolgen, maar in telkens is een vriendinnengroep haar vangnet. Of de missie het gewenste gevolg heeft? De laatste twee woorden uit het boek geven het (onverwachte) antwoord. Chicklit met veel dialogen en geschreven in een humoristische, soms licht ironische stijl. ( )

Lekker ontspannend boek. Niet echt veel diepgang.
Een boek om te lezen na een ontzettend goede literaire roman. ( )

Remind Me Again Why I Need a Man is one of the best "Chick Lit" books of the year. And I have no problem saying that in print. It was smart, it was funny, it was a not as predictable as one may expect. And best of all, it is set in Ireland!! ( )
