DI Kelly Porter's area is the northern Lake District and the author makes good use of many real locations as she chases down a dangerous and vicious killer. The author has had time over her previous 7 books to develop the main character, whilst introducing some well described new ones, like new sidekick Dan. Some of the descriptions of the murders might be a bit gruesome for some readers, but well researched and developed plot which didn't give away the perpetrator too quickly. (

This book was great. What a ride it takes you on. In fact the whole series is like that. There is grittiness, determination and compassion through the story with plenty going on, and my interest remained high the whole way through. I am sad I have finished the last book in the DI Kelly Porter series and hope there will be more (
