I am conflicted on this review. Normally, I devour anything that this author writes. I looked forward to her darker rendition of Cinderella. However, it felt off for me. I was both bothered by it and turned on at times. The Kink, especially later on in the book, is hot. It shouldn't have excited me but it did. My issue came with the actual characters and story. Ash came off as childish (and yes I realize that she was young) but it seemed mismatched against someone like Win. The brothers all confused me too.

Even as much as I struggled, I still found myself wanting to find out what was going to happen. It ends after a pretty intense scene and I am curious where the author intends to take it. I hope that as Ash take her power back that she grows up more so that the pairing can be believable. Even though this is not my favorite by this author, there is no mistaking that she is gifted at what she does. ( )

Stroke of Midnight is part of the Midnight Dynasty series. So many facets to this story - Age gap, kink, an evil stepmother and 3 evil stepbrothers. I found myself riveted right from the start - from Winston and Ash's titillating interactions to the devious machinations of her stepbrothers - Ash's strength, Winston's obsession and a rivalry between two powerful families - all leading to a surprise cliffhanger ending that left me dying to find out how the story ends. Stunned! I’m just literally stunned by this book! From start to finish it was without a doubt one of the most absorbing, intense, phenomenal reads I’ve ever experienced!

The story centers around Ash the beautiful, young, sassy mouthed “Cinderella” who unexpectedly meets and is offered a job by Winston, the dark, lascivious, powerful “Prince Charming.” The heat between these two is off the charts and the potent and wicked nature that builds between them is positively delicious!

I LOVE reimagined fairytales and I am so happy to say K. Webster did not disappoint. The cast of characters is truly unique, the story that surrounds them is all consuming and the spicy, dirty scenes will have you melting. There is not one thing about this book I didn’t like, HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!! I am on pins and needles in anticipation of book 2. ( )
