Though this book has not won or been nominated for any awards, it is a great book for introducing children to Aesop’s fables. The author was clever in the set up of the book. Aesop introduces every story with a situation that made the telling of a story necessary in order to make a person or persons understand what he was trying to tell them. This book includes eight of Aesop’s fables including, the Fox and the Stork, and the Lion and the Mouse. Each story has the general moral to the story posted at the end of the tale itself. In almost all the stories the characters are animals. In every tale there is one character that learns something from the experience or changes in some way. The illustrations are excellent with a nice warm tone to them. This book is best for children 6yrs old and up. Genre: Traditional Literature: Fables Media: Acrylics? Age Appropriateness: Primary/intermediate This book contains a collection of fables told by Aesop. Some of those include: The Fox and the Stork, The Frogs That Wanted a King, The Lion and the Mouse and 5 others. Each story has a moral at the end. These are good examples of Fables under the traditional literature genre category because they involve animals, they are short and each story has a moral and has a central theme. The characters in these stories are very important. In every story there is one dynamic character who changes or realizes something. It would get a 5 on the character start chart because there are several types of characters. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Review: This book makes a good fable or folktale because the stories purpose is to teach the reader a lesson through a stories plot and possible solution. This book, in particular, makes it easy to understand the moral since it is written, though there is a possibility that more than one moral can be taken from some of the stories.
