This is a great book for primary students.

This has large two page spreads illustrating various industries with jobs. It has animals wearing clothes doing all the jobs, so a child can imagine themself in any role instead of picking the pic that looks like them.

So... I actually had gotten the original edition, which is unabridged, and it's really expensive if the seller knows what it is. Random House had reduced the number of pages over years in order to keep the price point the same, eventually going from around 90 to around 60 pages. For anyone looking for the extra pages, the British edition currently in print has different missing pages and it has the house wife and sewage treatment plant pages. So, if you want all pages, you practically can get the American edition and the British edition and between the two of them, get all the pages, which is much cheaper than trying to get an unabridged early print of this. Also, the best way to get these rare editions is to buy on eBay and look at photos of the cover illustration, and wait until one comes up in a lot where the seller does not know that that one is rare. ( )

This book is about the many jobs people have, and tells stories that explain how those jobs work. This book would be great to use when teaching careers but may be a bit outdated. This book can give students ideas about future jobs they are interested in and what they need to do to get there. ( )

Gift from Mae and Chris for Lyra's first birthday. Lots going on in this one! ( )

Although lengthy, this book gives children a chance to envision themselves in the busy world over a variety of professions from farming to carpentry.
