Unfortunately, it petered out midway which was a shame because it was certainly the highlight of the novel. There were still glimpses in the second half but not to the same extent. Full of action, drama and humour, I found “The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne” very engaging and I am looking forward to their next adventure. Overall I found the story to be a well moving and interesting adventure. I do find that there were not a lot of "shades of grey" in the good vs. bad characters which made it rather predictable. I did like the slight twist with regard to the primary baddie at the end. I actually think my favorite characters were the boatman Joe and his granddaughter Ellie (hoping I remembered the names correctly!). The way post-apocalyptic England was presented was pretty cool (particularly what happened to London).
I am leaning in the direction of reading the sequel in the near future. (
