One of a subseries of the Roger West novels involving him in cases with links to other countries. This one involves the murder of a beautiful young woman whose cousins run an art business. It is more of a thriller than a mystery --lots of shooting and firebombs, not much deduction. There is interplay between West and an ambitious policeman named Trumbull who hopes to solve the case first. This case marks West's promotion from chief inspector to Superintendent. ( )
