And since I am a hard task master and round down, that makes it a 3 stars.
The characters were interesting and I like Griffin more than I did Layne. Even though she is a strong, high-powered Lawyer, she just came off a bit too into her head and not really connected to her heart. She comes up with some of the most ridiculous excuses to ignore what is between her and Griffin. She often annoyed me.
Griffin I liked, but I would have preferred him to be a bit more assertive and confident.
There are also some typos. A couple of them I highlighted in kindle notes, but not all of them.
My biggest problem was with the lack of connection between them during the 'Slow Burn'. I don't mind a slow burn as long as I get my steamy. But, I really needed them to have more tension and scenes dealing with that throughout.
Now, I have to admit, this was actually a fun read. If it hadn't been for my above problems with the story, I would have given it at least a 3.75 and it would have rounded up to 4.
There is humor, and I love humor.
When the steam finally kicked in it went to Hot, sweaty, adult sex steam. And I finally felt the connection between them.
