There was enough detail to know what was going on and get to know the characters involved. I appreciated Krista's courage and spontaneous decision to get away from her depressing life and make a new start somewhere else where she (hopefully) would be safe. This first book in a series makes you look forward to also visit the following chapters in Krista's life. ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I’ve never been a fan of fiction when it comes to the Holocaust, though if it’s well written then it’s okay. Unfortunately, Krista’s Escape was like an angsty drama show and I was glad it was a short read, otherwise I might not have finished it. The characters weren’t fleshed out and they never felt believable in how they were written. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. A very good short read that leaves you wanting to know more of what happens to Krista and those accompanying her as she escapes her hometown before it falls into the hands of the Nazis. The character of Krista, Gerhardt, and Violet are likeable and believable for the time period. The trials Krista deals with are harrowing in the small town bordering Germany at the beginning of the Nazi regime and the beginning of their escape is filled with just the right amount of suspense and fear of them being found out. When she overhears a conversation, she hides in a car to escape.I did not think that this book gave enough background on the characters to make a compelling plot or drama. The characters themselves felt very stereotypical and one-dimensional. Overall, this was a bust. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. A young woman is on the run. She is running from her parents and an arranged marriage, running from her violent and abusive brothers, and running from a life of boredom and drudgery. But, when she is arranged to marry the local Nazi sympathizer who relished in abusing her and having his way, Krista knows she must run...as her brother did. Krista must escape not only the marriage and her family, but also the darkness that is surrounding 1940s Europe. Her salvation comes when an English couple stop at their family shop on their way out of town - and she jumps into the trunk of their car. Krista will never imagine where this journey will take her and how dangerous it has now become. This book was so good!!!! I was so mad when I discovered it is a short story! I wanted to keep reading and find out what happens!!!!! That sequel better hurry up and come out quickly!!!! A great beginning to a riveting story. Hurry please Gemma Jackson! :) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
