It's definitely the most searing portrait of desperation I remember ever having read, in an extraordinarily amusing way. Don't want to give much away, since to say almost anything would indeed do just that, but I can certainly safely say that the narrator is rather immediately recognizable as unreliable, and the fun is gradually finding out why and then going along with it. (Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s).
