Harry, a troubled 12-year-old tomboy, is desperate to own a dog and escape her family's dysfunctions. She finds an abused dog, but her pleas for help are ignored by her parents, teachers, and soccer teammates. Pushed beyond her limits, Harry rescues the sorely injured dog, but the owner, a crazed, alcoholic criminal, pursues them and kidnaps them. In a wild adventure, Harry learns the hard way to do the right thing, but "be careful what you wish for." Her courageous Redhawks soccer team saves Harry and Booper from a brutal death, yet learn that even the bravest action can pave a hard road of unintended and painful consequences. Harry and the Redhawks must answer the daunting question: Can true justice prevail despite apathy, ignorance, addiction, and laws that seem to reward evil and punish good?
