Chapter book for young readers about a discovery of a treasure map in South Carolina. The illustrations in this book are great. The story is also really fun. I'm listening to [b:The Hobbit or There and Back Again|5907|The Hobbit or There and Back Again|J.R.R. Tolkien|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546071216l/5907._SY75_.jpg|1540236] and it is super distracting. I enjoy reading a one off mystery. David and Kathy Vance are excited to spend two months at the beach in South Carolina. Sun, sand, water and fun. They also discover adventure and mystery. Near the cottage is a hill called Crossbone Hill. Stories of pirates and treasure are told by the locals which leads the children to believe there is treasure to be found. Also being near a swamp and marsh just adds that must mystery to it. Top it off with a spooky many who looks like a pirate with a gold earring, who warns them to stay out of the swamp and the kids become determined to find that treasure. What seems like an exciting adventure turns into a real scary and dangerous event. Written of a time where things seemed a little simpler; kids ran barefoot in shorts and tops with the freedom to explore. Mom and Dad were nearby but not hovering or arranging play dates. Imaginations were encouraged to make playtime fun and a learning experience. It is easy to get into the story and imagine what the kids experienced. Even when it gets to the scary, dangerous part, you feel like you are there with them. Geared towards kids, I think adults can get enjoyment from it. Maybe even read it aloud to their kids...or someone's kids. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
