There was definitely the same great action and spot-on art panels I've come to love from the series. The emotional intensity seemed lower, possibly because we're starting several years after the last volume and it needs to build up again. But Lazarus certainly knows how to keep me wanting more. That ending, UGH WHERE'S THE NEXT VOLUME. The inter-Family war continues. with Vassalovka being the main opponent in this book. Forever Carlyle seems to have made a deal to work with her scheming sister Johanna in exchange for more freedom. Meanwhile Bethany Carlyle is pushing the most recent Forever too hard, and patriarch Malcolm Carlyle, recovering from poisoning, is softening? Surely not! I had forgotten some details of what was going on, though there is a handy cast of characters in front. Forever seemed strangely passive and obedient to Johanna in this book. After the setbacks of previous volumes, Forever Carlyle helps her family begin to push back against their enemies -- and allies -- in the years long war between the ruling cabals. Rucka holds his cards a little too close to his chest during the final chapter, leaving things vague and a little frustrating, but I'm certainly eager for more. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"The world now lies divided not amongst political or geographic boundaries but amongst financial ones. Wealth is power, and that power rests with only a handful of families. And now those families are at war... Two years have passed since current Carlyle Lazarus Forever was betrayed on the battlefield, and now the Carlyle Family finds itself surrounded on all sides. With time running out for her Family, Johanna recruits Forever to go on the attack. As Lazarus fights Lazarus, the next Forever Carlyle in training, 14-year-old 'Eight', finds herself in a life-or-death struggle of a different kind."--Provided by publisher. Art is as always good. Only issue I had is with identifying some of the characters (Marisol and Forever look like twins) but this might be something to do with the future story development (after all we are talking about clones and mental reprogramming (and outright override like it happened to Forever's once love interest)) so lets see what future issues will bring.
This issue feels like a preparation for a truly bloody events. All families have now taken sides, line is drawn and large scale conflict is started. As I said story gets more interesting by the issue.
Recommended to all fans of action adventure and dystopian SF. ( )
