This book was written in the 1980s by Anthony Paul. It is about a tiger who one morning wakes up and all of his stripes have vanished. The book follows General MacTiger's journey to find his stripes. I am "iffy" about this book. I love the illustrations and the "old timey feel" of all of the pictures. That being said, I do not know what the message of this story is supposed to be. At first I thought it was going to be about appreciating what you have because you never know when it may go away, but that's not what the story ends up being about. General MacTiger does many tasks for other animals so Python will give him his stripes back. Then, I thought it could be about doing nice things for people so people would do nice things for you, but the way General MacTiger got the monkeys to cooperate was by mental manipulation, which is not nice... Also it's not a good message to do nice things SO you get what you want. So I honestly do not know what the message was. That being said, the story was entertaining and followed a very predictable story line of do something for someone so they would do something for someone so you would get what you want. ( )
