This book just took this series a WHOLE lot darker. My heart hurt for these characters. There was ugliness and violence that was hard to read. Yet, there were moments that balanced it out. Much of the book is told from Bors' POV, which fascinated me. I like dual POV books, because I like having the peeks into the heads of both leads, but single POVs just work sometimes in a way that dual wouldn't. And while this is technically a dual POV, it is functionally a single POV, and I don't think that the book would've been as intense if we had more of Ivy's POV.
Bors was an intriguing character. I don't think even he knows himself as well as he could. There's a plethora of changes and realizations going on in his head. I did truly find his musings on Ivy to be enjoyable.
I was really drawn to Ivy. She's had to go through so much and yet, she's still standing. I think she's really strong, stronger than even she knows.
I love the shared world in the CDM, and I think each new couple is great. I would love to see more of several of them, including Bors and Ivy. (
