This is a dual language book, the main purpose of which is to be a study aid for the intermediate and advance level students studying the Russian language. From a grammar standpoint, the focus of the book is on verbs of motion, which frequently present a challenge to the students. In each of the twenty chapters there are several verbs of motion used with various prefixes that change their meaning. At the end of each chapter, there is an exercise: fill-in blanks with a missing verb from the text, which allows the readers to check how well they understand and remember the material. The vocabulary of the book is not simple, so for the convenience of the readers each chapter is translated into English. At the end of the book there is a list of the most common verbs of motion and a list of prefixes that are frequently used with them. We strongly believe that the process of learning should be fun. That is why the plot of the book is a mystery story, which captures the attention of the readers. Nobody will be able to put this book aside without having finished reading it first! One wintery Saturday morning in a small town in Siberia, Russia, a girl named Olga gets on a bus headed to a ski resort, where an American acquaintance named Bob is impatiently waiting for her. This meeting is extremely important not only for them, but for all of mankind, for they are both nuclear physicists with key knowledge about a sinister plot currently being developed by a group of scientists. Those scientists are working on deadly rays that might pose a grave danger to the whole world. Only Bob and Olga can foil this dastardly plot! But, unknown to Olga and the other passengers, the bus goes in a totally different direction, taking Olga and the others farther and farther away from their planned destination. When the bus finally stops, the driver orders the passengers to exit, then leaves them stranded in the middle of nowhere, forcing the passengers to fend for themselves! Will Olga and Bob meet? Why did the bus driver abandon the passengers? What will happen to all of them? Can the sinister plot against all of mankind be diverted?… (altro)
