"At eight years old, Shulle has known only life in a small village with her loving but peculiar father. When Uncle Shebna offers shelter in Jerusalem in exchange for Shulle's help tutoring King Manasseh, Judah's five-year-old co-regent who displays the same peculiarities as her father, she's eager to experience the royal court. But Shulle soon realizes the limits of her father's strict adherence to Yahweh's Law when Uncle Shebna teaches her of the starry hosts and their power"--Provided by publisher.… (altro)

What a wonderful redemption story.

I always love the way Mesu Andrews is able to bring the people and the stories of the Bible to life. Beyond wondering how a twelve year old ever managed being king, I'd not previously given Manasseh's story much thought. As others have stated, in some places this book can be difficult for sensitive readers but this is a redemption story not to be missed.

Special thanks to Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers for an advance copy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a review and these thoughts are my own. ( )

This is book 3 of the Prophets and Kings series. In this portion King Hezekiah has brought his people back to worshipping God. Unfortunately, when his son was being trained to take the crown, he was manipulated into idolatry, human sacrifices and multiple wives. Can his mother's prayers be answered and Manasseh find his way to God?

Once again, Mesu Andrews has woven an intricately written novel that grasps your attention and even at some moments shedding tears with the characters as you feel the depth of their pain. My favorite part is without a doubt the unfaltering faith that many had although they were persecuted and murdered for believing in the Creator. If you have read the previous two novels, it's a must read for 2020! ( )

Mesu Andrews remains my top historical Biblical fiction writer. Her research is impeccable. Her ability to bring Yahweh and His words to life is masterful. The paths taken by these people of God to finally get to where they are meant to be are realistic. The importance of God-fearing people in our lives always trumps the evil done by others in our lives. The scars produced by our mistakes are there to show us how far we have come in our walk. ( )

Isaiah's Legacy by Mesu Andrews is a lovely book to read during this time. There are so many messages in this book: God's love for us no matter what, unconditional love, and the mercy of God.

There are three characters which are followed: Zibah, Shulle, and Manasseh. It is set during the reign of Manasseh. The women in the book demonstrate the lack of control they had over their own lives which left me feeling frustrated for them. Then I began to think of the things in my life that I have absolutely no control over and I see how turning things over to God is the best thing to do. It is tempting to scream or yell but by taking it to God it allows them to feel God's love for them.

As I said this is a lovely book but it is a book with powerful lessons for us.

I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review. ( )
