Thornfield Hall is not the only mansion hiding a perilous secret. Charlotte Bront's literary heroine, Jane Eyre, is newly married to Mr. Rochester, but her honeymoon bliss is marred when a dangerous outbreak of typhoid fever threatens her life. To escape their disease-ridden house, Mr. Rochester departs with her to the nearest refuge open to them: Ingram Park, home of the haughty and beautiful Blanche Ingram. Jane isn't expecting a warm reception from her aristocratic hosts, but she hardly anticipates a stranger on the garden path with a bullet wound in his chest-and an inexplicable confession on his lips. The residents of Ingram Park are concealing a secret, and at least one of them is willing to sacrifice a man's life in order to hide the truth. Aided by Mr. Rochester's long experience, Jane must rely on her courage, wit, and intuition if she is to identify the vindictive shooter, or the next attack will surely prove to be fatal.… (altro)

This book starts out very slow but grows on you. At the end of the story, I found myself interested in what other mysteries the Rochester's might solve. ( )

Jane Eyre has been married to the injured Mr Rochester for six weeks. As Thornfield Hall has been destroyed by fire they are living at Ferndean Manor when they get an invitiation, which includes Jane's cousin Diana Rivers, to visit Ingram Park. Home of Lord Ingram and his sister Blanche.
But soon Jane discovers an injured man, what secrets is he hiding. What of the other guests.
An enjoyable well-written sequel to Jane Eyre. Jane and Edward are such a lovely couple.

I gave up reading this about 2/3rds of the way though. Deeply disappointed by errors in researching the period, especially the relationship between servants and their employers. There is simply no way an honourable butler would discuss anything of his employer’s family life with a visitor to the house in the way that happens here. If they did they would soon be out on the street and pretty much unemployable with no references. Also quite unlikely that an English public house or inn in such a rural area would ever serve coffee during this period. Apart from that it is fairly well written, but I find it so annoying when American writers fail to do their homework on period pieces such as this ( )

This is an interesting sequel to Jane Eyre. If you enjoyed the original Jane Eyre novel you will enjoy this new take. Jane and Mr. Rochester are now happily married, but when she falls ill she is sent away to recover. However that land turns quickly into a land of mystery and intrigue.

I enjoyed this new take on Jane and her mystery solving skills. ( )

At long last, Jane is happily married to Mr. Edward Rochester, but marriage is not easy in the drafty house. When Jane falls ill, Mr. Rochester decides it would be best for her to recover at the home of his friend, Lord Ingram. Mystery follows them there and it takes all of Jane's strength and wits to save a man's life.

This was an interesting sequel to the original story. I never would have put Jane in the part of someone who solves a mystery. Her calm and kind demeanor, however, is perfect for drawing information out of others.

It was a bit annoying how jealous and domineering Mr. Rochester could be, and I'm glad Jane made a point of having a conversation with him about it. I also did not remember how he had given her the nickname of "Janet" and that took some getting used to. Jane's cousin Diana Rivers makes an appearance and it was a delight to have her in the story.

For readers who enjoyed Jane Eyre and enjoy mysteries, I would absolutely recommend this! I received a free copy from the author and all opinions expressed are my own. ( )
