There's a strong emphasis on faith in God.Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This book has a little romance, heartbreak and mystery. It is hard to put down once you start reading it! Lacey has more than her fair share of problems but navigates through them all. It could have been a bit more detailed but overall it was a great read. At times I felt like I was in the scene with Lacey. I love the fact that although she has had breast cancer, she doesn't let that stop her from living her life and doing what she wants.I received an Advanced Review Copy as a win from LibraryThing from the publishers in exchange for a fair book review. My thoughts and feelings in this review are my own Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. For the most part, this book is a good story and very easy to read. Unfortunately, I just found it a little preachy and, for the most part, unbelievable. I understand that books can be written to the "as we wish things were" point and not to real life standards, but I thought by and large this story was so over the top in the "as we wish" category. I have never known anyone who was so committed to their faith that each and every aspect of their life fell neatly into place. I also found it impossible to believe that in more than 30 years no one would have known about her birth situation or mentioned it, especially when she spent so much time at the end with her mother. From my experience, folks who know they are dying tend to reveal truths because they want to be called home with a clean conscience. Also, the timeline was just weird to my way of thinking. On one page you would read, "several months had passed" and then on the opposite page, it would state (for the same time period), "eight weeks had passed." While technically this is months, it doesn't fit my idea of a smooth passage of time. There were also some chapters with years as part of them, and then others just were. I also don't find it believable that over the passage of no more than a year, you would forget about your true love even if had dumped you, and find your covenant love and be thinking of a lifetime with a new person. Maybe I am just slow to make changes so I think others are, too. I just feel like the entire timeline from being a medical student to walking down the aisle was too disjointed. For me, it was just an okay book. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I received this book as an ARC from LibraryThing. I was intrigued by the premise of the story and, as a former OB nurse, I genuinely enjoyed the medical aspect of the Labor and Delivery setting. I did find that the plot moved fairly quickly and would have enjoyed a bit more development in both it and the characters. I wrongly assumed the book would follow a very simple, predictable path and was delighted by the twist at the ending. All in all it was a entertaining read for a cross-country flight. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
