This book was so cute - I loved Always Never Yours and I enjoyed this book for a lot of the same reasons. But it held up on its own merits too. As a brutally honest, word-vomiting sort of person, I definitely identified with Cameron and her struggles. (Also, I took a Shakespeare class in college and boy let me tell you - the paper I wrote on The Taming of the Shrew was a barely concealed feminist tirade against the entirety of the play, so I was definitely cheering on Elle.)

Also, absolutely delighted about the cameo at the end! So perfect. ( )

If I'm being honest... I didn't particularly enjoy this. I thought the premise was interesting and I love Shakespeare retellings, but the sheer outrageous amount of denial Cameron was in was incredibly frustrating. It attempted to explore that honesty doesn't have to equal being mean (aka being a "bitch") but I don't think this part was particularly well-developed, which was a shame. Additionally, the friendships, both new and old, weren't fleshed out enough and the subplot with the parents (and the mom's character arc) made little sense. The romance was cute though, I'll give it that (even if the comparison to Benedict Cumberbatch put me off for a moment). ( )
