This book is also availabe in a kindle version.A sample from the book:Outside of her uncle's lodge, Father de Lamberville was walking nearby. He was a Jesuit priest, and he was making his customary visits to lodges of Mohawk Indians who were too young, too old, or too sick to work in the fields at spring planting. He walked right past the lodge of the Tortoise Chief, for he knew that the Chief did not care for the Blackrobes or the Catholic Faith that they taught. All of a sudden, he seemed to hear a voice say, "Father de Lamberville, go and visit that lodge."The Tortoise chief's lodge? He took a chance. Walking inside without knocking, as was the Mohawk custom, he saw a young woman of about eighteen years of age working on some needlework. She looked up at him in surprise.Tekakwitha felt as if her heart stopped. God had answered her prayer, and brought the Blackrobe right to her! She smiled, and greeted Father respectfully. She offered him a place to sit on the mat near the fire, and they began to talk.Crosses in the Woods can be used for Home School Study and contains lesson activities, vocabulary, and projects in the back half of the book.
