I had mixed emotions about the story “Finding Christmas.” Certainly, this book is a unique, heartwarming story. On Christmas Eve night, a young girl wanders through the snow in hopes of finding a gift for someone very special. The story, from the young girls point of view, helps readers relate to her dismay of not being able to find the perfect gift. Some of the illustrations enhanced the snowy Christmas Eve night, but the colors were very dull and therefore I was not as interested. Another reason I did not like this book as much was because the reader never finds out who her “special someone” is. I kept reading and reading in hopes of the young girl revealing the special person, but was left with many questions. Was it her mom or dad? Did she have a brother or sister she wanted to give a gift to? Perhaps the author wanted to leave this open-ended for readers to include their own “special someone,” in which case I think would be a great follow up activity. Still, I wanted to know whom the main character wanted a gift for. Overall, I like the main themes of this story: generosity and the beauty in giving, not just receiving. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
