Captain Maxwell Davis and his entire unit scrambled to engage alien ships over Iowa. The aliens snatched him out of his destroyed jet before they continued on their interplanetary hot pursuit. Then they informed Max that Earth was too far outside regular shipping lanes to return him to his planet. So Max ends up in an alien spaceport looking for work. To afford a ticket home he can either spend three hundred years working with linguists to improve the computer's questionable ability to translate English or he can take a job as a nanny for an unpopular alien. That way he can afford the ticket in four years. The problem is that the computer may have mistranslated the word "nanny" and there might be a reason an alien is willing to pay such a high fee.… (altro)

This was a bit weirder than I expected, but I enjoyed it. ( )

This book is so much fun!

Narrated by John Solo. He has an unusual intonation at times but it worked for this book. As this is the first book narrated by him that I have listened to, I'm unsure if this is regular for him. I'm not sure it would work for a contemporary story, for example. ( )

I began reading this in the middle of the night because it was like 300 kB and to me that indicates a shorter story.

I vaguely remember liking Lyn Gala before I actively used Goodreads so I thought it would be a good time.

It was a weird time. But the thing is... I kind of like reading about people getting off of their kinks. I don't know, I really enjoy people enjoying their (to me somewhat strange) sexual turn-ons. At least when it is safe and consensual.

So this was a romance which I enjoyed. Would I recommend it to everyone? Nope. The sexy times may be too much for some people.

I have seen some clips because my teenage friend were assholes and thought it would be funny to show me how someone did something with an octopus that was totally not consensual, I still think neither party wanted that to happen. THIS WAS TOTALLY NOT THAT.

(P.s. the reason I'm shelving this as a romance-mm is because both parties used 'he' as a pronoun) ( )

This book is all what I love about Lyn Gala's writing. Yes, it's a bit weird, c'mon, just looking at th e cover you know tentacles are involved *grin*, but it's engaging, interesting and the world-building is, as usual, fantastic.

I struggled trying to picture exactly what the aliens would actually look like and all I can say is: this author has one heck of a fertile imaginition! Mind you, as I'm loving the fruits of that imagination, all I can say is I hope Ms Gala continues writing stories like these. You keep writing, I'll keep reading! ( )

The belly of the enormous alien ship pushed down through the cloud cover, lightning dancing across its surface of gunmetal gray.
