This book mostly covers how teachers can practice mindfulness in the classroom, not how to teach you students mindfulness, which is what I thought it would be. Nonetheless, it has some great practical applications, which are well presented in the "Try This" sections at the end of the chapters. I would especially suggest this to a teacher having a difficult time with a class or certain students.

I am not a teacher, but my daughter is going through school to become one. But I did read and loved it. The word love is prevalent in this book. The way to show love and empathy in a classroom is great. My daughter in fact liked reading it that she was doing extra credit for her class on the subject of mindfulness in the classroom. It was a good read and I would definitely say any teacher needs to read. ( )

This has been a great, timely resource for me as my students over the years have an increasing need for self-regulation due to the increase of tension, stress, and anxiety-induced situations in our world today. I find this to be a very valuable and applicable book for my profession. ( )

Mindfullness is becoming another education buzzword but this author goes beyond the hype and gets into how very important it is to add Mindful principles for social and emotional learning to every classroom. Mussey uses research based evidence as well as classroom examples to demonstrate the importance of empathy and kindness among students and teachers. Covering the eight principles of mindfullness this book goes beyond the theory and gives practical steps for schools/teachers to help foster a more caring environment for all. ( )

I received this book as an Early Reviewer. It was a good read. I would've liked a few more ways to implement mindfulness in the classroom. But it was a good book, especially for those teachers who have not yet learned much about mindfulness or how to implement it. ( )
