Gorgeous illustrations for an interesting fairy tale. ( )

I read this for the "A Book With Illustrations" part of my 2020 reading challenge. This was beautifully done, both the story and the artwork. It was a much darker take on the classic/Disney Snow White tale and I loved it. Not for kids. ( )

graphic novel by Neil Gaiman that recasts the fairy tale of Snow White dramatically by rewriting it from the point of view of the wicked stepmother. Colleen Doran's artwork, color, and design are all fabulously good. ( )

I'm flabbergasted and cannot believe I have never heard of this before stumbling on it at the library, as it is one of the the most beautiful works of art I've ever seen!

This is just one of those things I don't feel able to review, beyond heartily recommending it with the caveat to check trigger warnings if you have any concerns.

The language and portrayal of the dwarves and forest folk is questionable and possibly problematic.

I'm speechless with awe and have to read the short story now! ( )
