When traveling cook Jenny Starling starts her new job for the aristocracy living in a genuine castle, she is thrilled, envisioning nothing more arduous than days spent preparing her beloved recipes. When a fabulous jeweled dagger, one of the castle's many art treasures, is used to murder a member of the staff and the Lady of the house insists that Jenny--quite literally--helps the police with their enquiries, it seems as if the reluctant sleuth must once again discover the identity of the killer among them. But how was it done, when the murder was committed in front of several impeccable witnesses--none of whom saw a thing?… (altro)

Jenny Starling has just started a new permanent position working in a castle for food lovers Lord and Lady Avonsleigh. But it only takes a few days before a body is discovered. Can Jenny aid the police in finding the real motive among so many she uncovers and then the killer.
An enjoyable and entertaining well-written cozy mystery. Another good edition to the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. ( )

Jenny Starling is a traveling cook who has had some great assignments, although in several cases there had been at least one murder. This highly sought after cook has been forced to divide her time as a rather impressive amateur sleuth.

Jenny is rather optimistic at this time. After all, she will be working in a glorious castle with very respectable hosts. Although she spots an odd staff member occasionally, she maintains her positive attitude. Things quickly change, however, when someone working at the castle is killed with a valuable dagger that is usually on display.

When the lady of the house insists that the police allow Jenny to assist in their investigation, she jumps right to task. In her usual brilliant manner, her powers of deduction begin to shine, impressing everyone around her.

The Castle Mystery is another delightful cozy mystery in the Jenny Starling series. In each case, Jenny exudes remarkable skill and confidence. I loved this book and I have also enjoyed the other titles. The next book in the series is The Oxford Mystery.

Formerly published as An Invisible Murder under Faith Martin’s pen name Joyce Cato. ( )

***** Freelance cook Jenny Starling has an intellect even more impressive than her cooking skills or her dramatic appearance and isn't hesitant to wield it along with her powers of observation and deduction. Even if the constabulary become a mite testy upon finding out that she's in residence. The mystery itself is somewhat convoluted and full of red herrings, surprises, and twists, including the antics of Henry the tortoise. I love this book and this series!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Joffe Books via NetGalley. Thank you! ( )

In Cato’s mystery novel, traveling Chef Jenny Starling has landed a gig serving for Lord and Lady Avonsleigh in their Oxfordshire castle. She’s just arrived when the governess, Ava Simmons, is murdered. With the local inspector’s encouragement, Jenny steps into the role of sleuth as she digs through skullduggery and incriminating secrets. As she balances her roles as chef and detective, she discovers that just about everybody has a motive for murder.

A very creative addition to A Traveling Cook Mystery Series. ( )
