Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. HTML:There are those who are popular.
There are those who are outcasts.
And there are those who must choose between the two.

Megan Tuw has always been popular. As a leader of her high school??s most cliquish group, she??s among the anointed girls who think nothing of ridiculing those who don??t fit in. That includes Perdita Wiguiggan??a classmate Megan and her friends openly refer to as the Freak. But Megan doesn??t know the first thing about Perdita, since she would never dream of talking to her. Only when the two girls are thrown together in detention does Megan begin to see Perdita as more than someone with an odd last name, as more than the school outcast. And slowly, Megan finds herself drawn into an almost-friendship.

Then Megan faces a choice: Perdit

Surprisingly good. This book blew my hair back with its depth... it really makes you think. ( )

I thought it would be interesting to read a book about a popular girl, to learn a little bit about cliques from the inside. ?After all, most books are written from the pov of the misfit, the outsider. ?áOr they pretend cliques are insignificant. ?áWell, this book makes it plain how powerful a clique can be. ?áBut I didn't learn anything about what motivates the mean girls, how cliques have such power... the MC is just not drawn convincingly at all, imo. ?á

Recommended if you like teen melodrama, or if you are a teen. ( )

Fifteen year old Megan Tew is part of “The Group”, the smug, popular set at school, which carries out “Interventions” on its own members if they fail to conform. Sidelined from her own powerbase in lunchtime detention, she develops a relationship, not quite a friendship with "The Freak", Perdita, the school outcast. When Megan is forced to choose between Perdita and The Group, her decision precipitates a devastating reaction. Megan must then find a way to recover and to grow up, out of the shadow of group conformity, into a more fully realized human being. A taut and challenging look at teenage girl politics. ( )

A fantastic look into the bitchiness of young girls and how one friend can make all the difference. Watch as the popular girl befriends the unpopular, her decent into depression and her destruction of an innocent girl in her effort to repopularize herself. A wake up call for bitchy teens and a tear jerker for all.
Liberally spiced with fantastic poetry from famous poets this is a must read. ( )

I am responsible for a great many things, but being put on detention for talking in history was not my fault (not technically, anyway).
