Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. Recommended Ages: Gr. 3-6 Plot Summary: Raj just moved from Brooklyn, NY to Elba, Oregon, and to say he's homesick is an understatement. Life gets better when a cat comes to his door, even if the cat doesn't seem totally normal. The cat is definitely not normal. He was the ruler of another planet, but his evil ways were finally overthrown and the new leaders were the ones who teleported him to earth. Determined to return to his planet, he needs to find a way to transport himself back. If he doesn't find the machine on his own, it's a good thing his new human friend is willing to help. Will Raj's problems be solved thanks to his new cat? Will Klawde ever make it back to his planet? Setting: Planet Lyttyrboks and Elba, Oregon Characters: Raj - Klawde - doesn't meow and tries to speak, quick to learn languages Recurring Themes: good vs. evil, problem-solving, technology, friendship, survival, camp, family Controversial Issues: none Personal Thoughts: This book had some off-the-wall ideas (a cat that speaks another language and can build a transporter) but it's still within my primitive fantasy understanding. Funny, quick, smart. Genre: sci-fi/fantasy Pacing: fast Characters: Frame: easy to understand the "world" Storyline: Activity: Great characters and story. Both cat and boy deal with adapting to their new environment and situation in a fun way. The boy is forced to embrace the outdoors and meet new kids. The cat must find a way back to his planet. The humor is not only focused on these two characters. All of them have fun scenes or moments that help us connect remember them. As an adult, I enjoyed it a lot. As a teacher, I would recommend it. A fun way to approach to "moving to another city" without sadness or drama. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
