DNF- Hmmm, I'm only a couple pages into this and having trouble suspending my disbelief. The boy buys a car for ~$700. The only reason he does this is drive from the east coast to California for a job. I happen to know that he could easily buy a one way plane ticket for much, much, much less money. And then if he really needs a car when he gets there, he'd still have plenty of money saved to buy another clunker car to get around with.
Oh, I read the next couple of pages and it explains his motivation for driving. Still not convinced though.

A plea to young people to get involved in the quest for alternative energy sources, wrapped in a fun comic adventure.  Young people on road trips sure do get into, and out of, interesting jams.  This might not be the most realistic book in the 'genre' but as anyone who has ever been young and adventurous knows, truth can be even stranger than even this kind of fiction.  Large print & margins made this a quick read, would probably appeal to teen reluctant readers. Car trouble is a very funny book.I would recomend this to someone who likes duprau 's books.My favorite part was when duff broke down. ( )

YA novel that I can see being made into a movie of sorts, though with adults not kids. Computer Geek, sleezy guy, wanna be singer whose mother is a fraud artist and a barfy dog travel west with a couple of thugs after them. ( )
