A compelling read for any Helen Oxenbury aficionado, this book is a visual delight, very thoughtfully compiled by its author, Leonard Marcus, who is a well-known children's book historian, writer and critic. ... The large size of the book is striking, 270 x 240mm (half the 288 pages are images) and is in this respect unusual but totally justifiable, as the reader can delight in the immediacy of Helen Oxenbury's world through personal family photographs, items from her sketchbooks as well as reproductions of her varied illustrations.
