Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. As someone who works in schools, I thought the information in this book was interesting and enlightening. I did pass the book on to a school district I thought could benefit from it more than I could as a counselor. ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I am not a teacher but I definitely would use if I was. This is an excellent guide for teachers to identify the gifted student. Since reading this book I have realized that some of the children that my grandchildren talk about at school that are bored or just not into class may be that gifted child, They need a little more instruction from that teacher to work on that. I did find the sources that were listed was a distraction while reading. Too many...I will definitely pass it on to teachers, aides and anyone else I can think of to help our future leaders. I won this copy from Librarything. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Dr. Johnsen has outdone herself with a great guide for teachers on how to identify 'gifted students' in any environment. The book is filled with data which is backed by research. Additionally, examples are drawn of both qualitative and quantitative measurements which can greatly help an instructor in the identification process. Alternately, the methods provided in the book for identifying gifted students might be extended out toward improving education overall. Raising the bar might for one student might just boost another out of hiding. I especially enjoyed the fact that there are many confounders involved in keeping gifted students in hiding. Teachers who need additional help in instructing/identifying any gifted student should not only own a copy of this book, but study the contents with rigor. There is plenty of research to follow up on. Thank you for writing such a wonderful guide for teachers around the world. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. This book is a good guide for all classroom teachers and a good resource for special needs departments within school systems. It also provides some surface information that can be utilized by parents and families of children with giftedness that wants to get a better handle on how to help these children succeed. The charts and testing information will be redundant for many professionals but give the layperson an opportunity to delve deeper into the information they may not always be able to understand or utilized when delivered by the school district or medical personnel. It's written for the professionals who work with children (think teachers, therapists, and counselors). Johnsen does a great job of defining what a gifted student should be displaying to be considered gifted. The only downside of this book is the cited sources. They're a bit distracting when reading and having to stop mid-way though a sentence to see a source cited. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Designed for practicing professionals such as teachers, counselors, psychologists, and administrators, Identifying Gifted Students addresses definitions, models, and characteristics of gifted students; qualitative and quantitative approaches to assessment; culturally fair and nonbiased assessment; and how to evaluate the effectiveness of identification procedures.
