Ian Lewis is one of my favorite authors. As is normal for me, it took me a bit to get back into a series I haven't read in a while and remember who was who.

This book appears to conclude the series. . . but who knows. The book takes place in a dystopian world where the U.S. has split into an East and a West with a DMZ in between.

Bobby and Nate hide out for a while after the assassination of Trevor Blet. A news story indicates Nate's mom, Maggie, has been arrested until they turn themselves in. They find Maggie living with Nancy. Nancy wants them to turn themselves in so no one comes looking too closely at her home. Bobby does, but he sends Nate back to his mom.

The Raider reluctantly takes on a job but then gets distracted when Santo is injured and gets pulled into the Pratt family's drama.

Bon and Hoffer Horton reunite--but I'm not sure if they've settled things between them yet.

Cooper fulfills his initial promise as an operative in an unexpected way.

The Sons of Washington seem to be a loosely based constitutional group who want to go back to the republic the U.S. has enjoyed for many years. The problem is that with the exposure of Bigelow and Reamer, no one knows who to trust or who is in charge.

It's well written, but not as much action as other Ian Lewis books have had. But it is a nice wrap up, if that's what it is. I still have questions. Does Nate stay with Maggie and his brother? Do they all stay with Nancy or will she still insist on Nate moving away now that the government is changing? Will Bon and Hoffer find the closeness they once shared again? Will anything come of Taylor and the Raider's friendship? Will Bobby be tried for Blet's murder and what punishment will he receive?

Perhaps it is the author's intention for us to envision what will happen in these characters' lives. Perhaps one or more of them will show up in another work, together or separately, to provide some hints or closure to their experiences. ( )
