Mischiefs and Miseries is an engaging and informative look at the founding of the first permanent English settlement in North America. It is a wonder that the colony survived! The book recounts the adventures, betrayals, and hardships of 1607--bringing the conflicting agendas and egos to life as only a novel can. The nobility and savagery of both the English and the "Naturals" are presented without judgement--refreshing, when "political correctness" is so often required of the past as well as the present. The reader is left grappling with questions of justice, power, avarice, honesty, and the relentless flow of history. And for all that, it's a fun read! K.K. Bruno is a talented writer who has done her homework. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
