Slightly surreal. ?áMore like a quiz or puzzle than a counting book because the numbers are not given on each page. ?áI like that it goes up to 22. ?áI also like the end, in which we learn that sheep who cannot sleep can also count sheep to help them sleep....

And now I've read both the Spanish and English versions. ?áTyvm, CLAN, for making this difficult for me. ?áAh well.

While waiting for a chance to order the English version, my son and I deciphered the Spanish version. Both of us have had two years of high school Spanish and still found this very difficult. It seems rather surreal - not just silly or cute. But we did enjoy it.

Satoshi Kitamura's illustrations are like nobody else's. Her animal characters have such personality that reading the book allowed is a joy, you know just what 'voice' to use. Highly recommended to all adults who enjoy children's picture books and have the excuse of a kid to buy one for. ( )

Woolly can't get to sleep, so he wanders around. The number of objects he encounters in the landscape progress from 1 to 22, though no numerals are displayed in the text or illustrations. A very subtle counting book. ( )
