Broken people find each other and love ( )

Luis Osorio returns home to Segovia, Spain for his mother's sixtieth birthday. He hasn't been home in five years (he now lives in California). While riding his motorbike through the streets he notices a pretty girl (Cristina Shephard). He follows her into a nightclub. Before the night is over they are lovers.

They meet again when Luis's parents hire Cristina as a photographer. (Luis comes from a famous banking family, Bank Osorio, who have been in the banking business for many years.) Luis doesn't trust paparazzi/photographers due to something that happened in his past with the paparazzi/a journalist. So now that he knows who Cristina is he wants her gone.

Cristina is very happy to have this job. It will finally give her the recognition she wants, and she will finally be someone. (Her father left her and her mother when Cristina was thirteen and she has felt rejected and unwanted from this ever since). Cristina eventually ends up at the Osorio family home located on an island (Fortaleza de Moya) and gets settled in. But Luis still doesn't want her there, though he finds himself attracted to Cristina. As time goes by Luis realizes Cristina is a genuine, caring person, and he begins to see her for who she truly is.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked both the hero and the heroine. They had some things in common...they both had pain in their pasts. Cristina, with her father. And Luis, who has been feeling guilty for five years, since the death of his beloved brother Bas, who died in a car accident which Luis blames himself for. (Five years ago Luis met a girl who was interested in him at a party and slept with her. Later he found out she was paparazzi and she wanted to get to his brother through him, which eventually led to Bas's death.)

A lovely read by Louise Fuller. I look forward to reading more books by this author. ( )
