Despite, as usual, reading several e-books co-currently, I read this one in five days BECAUSE I MISSED ARDEN, and the release date was delayed.

It's so good! So worth the wait! I liked how Hall kept things moving but managed to resolve several plots, and I liked the end very much. Plus, there are still a few open-ended plot points so...maybe a novella? Some day? Or...another whole novel? Dare I hope? (

I like the side characters and I like what the book tried to say (for example about safe, sane and consensual, about abuse, about trauma, and about agency). I did not like the plot overly much. I think the author went too far with all the conflict after conflict, and some of them were so unnecessary that it had mw literally rolling my eyes. It was pretty engaging though, in the way that I had to keep reading despite the negatives, just to get to the resolution.

But honestly, I think Caspian and Arden's story should have been resolved in book one, and the other two books could have revolved around, for instance, Ellory, or Caspian's minions, or Arden's family. As it was, now there were simply too many side threads and the book got way too crowded and messy. (

IMHO this needed to be just a smidge longer or and epilogue set farther into the future. I'm not sure I trust Caspian to stay.

Also... I need Bellerose's story. I can't stop thinking about him. (

I had fun reading it, but this was not my favorite Alexis Hall story. Mostly because of the second book, where both Arden and Caspian pissed me off to no end. And, while reading it, I was equal parts engrossed in it, but also thinking omg enough with the melodramatic ominous statements and tell us what's your damage already. ffs..
But still... I practically read the last installment in one breath and I loved their HEA, so it must not have been that big of a deterrent to my enjoyment of it.

Been waiting for so long I forgot I already pre-ordered it in OCTOBER 2018.
