A large tome that traces the history of the Mormon church from its inception to the preent. The author is concerned about the large political role the LDS church is playing in society, and this book is his siren call to sit up and take notice. Truthfully, he doesn't do a great job making his case about that, dropping the ball on the promised look at their political sway, but there is a good discussion of history of the church and Joseph Smith. I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and am a direct descendent of Brigham Young, the revered second president of the Mormon church, who in 1847 led his followers to Utah's great Salt Lake Basin.
