English summary: In May 2008 an international colloquium on the interrelation of religion and rule in the Syro-Palestinian region in the Hellenistic-Roman period was held at the Faculty of Theology of the Georg-August-Universitat Gottingen as part of the research training group Images of Gods - Images of God - World Views: Polytheism and Monotheism in Antiquity. The collection of essays which resulted from this contains most of the papers given and also some articles which have been added. Using an interdisciplinary approach, an attempt has been made to bring together the results of various research disciplines and to create a comprehensible synthesis in order to enable alternative insights into the cultural and religiously pluralistic territory of Syro-Palestine in the Hellenistic-Roman period. German description: Im Mai 2008 fand im Rahmen des Graduiertenkollegs Gotterbilder - Gottesbilder - Weltbilder: Polytheismus und Monotheismus in der Welt der Antike an der Theologischen Fakultat der Georg-August-Universitat Gottingen ein internationales Kolloquium zu den Wechselbeziehungen von Religion und Herrschaft im syro-palastinischen Raum in hellenistisch-romischer Zeit statt. Der daraus entstandene Sammelband enthalt den Grossteil der gehaltenen Vortrage und wurde um einige Beitrage erweitert. Mithilfe eines interdisziplinaren Ansatzes wird versucht, die Ertrage verschiedener Forschungsdisziplinen zusammenzufuhren und auf nachvollziehbare Weise eine Synthese herzustellen, um dadurch alternative Einblicke in die kulturell und religios pluralistische Landschaft Syro-Palastinas in hellenistisch-romischer Zeit zu ermoglichen.
