I realize how ruthless Arty-boy was now that I see his actions illustrated. I think this art style worked great, but some scenes are a tad grosser here than it was in the book thanks to the magic of illustration. What a fun story! I read this graphic novel because I've seen books about Artemis Fowl, and I wanted to know who this character was. Recently I've been finding great enjoyment of stories both science fiction and fantasy through graphic novels. I find the comics form suits these two genres better than the narrative form for me for several reasons. One is that I can actually see what is happening rather than try to imagine what is happening. A second reason is that graphic novels seem (to me, anyway) to help define exactly who each character is. This particular graphic novel had full page spreads about individual characters at intervals throughout the book. I liked that. I especially like that this hero (Artemis Fowl II) is an adolescent rather than an adult. I like his brilliance and his scheming. I'm also beginning to enjoy the world of fairies and dwarves as well. This is so unlike me! At this point, I'm ready to try one of the Artemis Fowl novels. I think I have sufficient background in the characters and the premise of this series to enjoy it. There's only one way to find out! :) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

In 2001, audiences first met and fell in love with a twelve-year-old criminal mastermind named Artemis Fowl. Since then, the series has sold over seven million copies in the United States alone. Now, this phenomenally successful series is being translated into a graphic novel format. Eoin Colfer has teamed up with established comic writer Andrew Donkin to adapt the text. For the first time, rabid fans will be able to see what Foaly's tin hat looks like; discover just how "Beet" Root got his name; and of course, follow their favorite criminal mastermind as he plots and connives in action-packed, full-color panels. So that's what Artemis Fowl is about.... I think I got this mixed up with Pullman's His Dark Materials. ( )
