This is a surprisingly informative text about snails, while also being incredibly entertaining. I must admit to learning a whole lot about snails I did not previously know.

With just a sentence of two per page, this is not too difficult for young readers to read on their own or with a little help. In fact, the end of the book has a one-page primer to parents, explaining "how to read comics with kids."

The illustrations are incredibly lively and add to touches of comedy to the book. The author also includes a brief tutorial on how to draw snails in the backmatter. ( )
