An excellent, If brief introduction to the TSR2, overall excellent effort. There is a great deal of history and historical anecdotes related to the TSR2 in 76 pages of text. Fairly well illustrated, there is a dearth of technical illustrations and the two technical drawings have been “modified” to fit on one or two pages. The illustrations that get pride of place are the TSR2 “what if” digital renderings by Adam Tooby and they are nice eye-candy.
Mr. Brookes succeeded in authoring a brief and concise monograph that gives a great introductory picture of the airplane and the governmental and corporate environment it was conceived in. He also succeeded in whetting my appetite enough for the TSR2 resulting in the acquisition of three more books on the aircraft. As a stand-alone volume, this monograph should suit the majority of readers.
There is very little here for modelers. A few views of the weapons bay and the cockpits is really about it. This may not be the best book on the TSR2, but highly recommended as a brief, concise introduction to the TSR2. ( )
