This book is filled with a series of poems and clever drawings that are all very humorous. All of the poems are filled with a word game surfaced around a certain word, and things that are totally opposite of that word. Richard Wilbur’s humorous writing style is sure to grasp young children’s attention, and will possibly have them playing an opposite word game afterward like I did! Richard Wilbur’s poems are filled with rhyming words in each passage, that has a very rhythmic pattern, which makes the poems easy and fun to read. I felt no depth, no resonance - an most of the cleverness seemed forced. What's the opposite of fleet? Someone who's slow and drags his feet. Another's an armada that'll Engage the first fleet in a battle. Ok, they're not all that bad. Um, looking for a good one... sorry, not finding any. Otoh, my teen son saw this while he was snacking and skimmed it and he says it's kinda cute. And some of the drawings are a little bit provocative. So, two stars rather than one. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
