Elizabeth St. Claire has always been hard to please. Dreaming solely of Highlander men her whole life, no prancing London Lord can stand a chance at winning her heart... ... But perhaps a Scotsman can. Elizabeth watches intrigued as the Highlander of her dreams, a Scotsman named Hamish Robb, arrives to oversee her season at the behest of her cousin, the Duke of Caithness. Elizabeth doesn't hide her feelings for the striking Scot. But Hamish, determined to obey his order to protect the St. Claire sisters, steadfastly rejects her every seducing lure. Believing that the debutante Elizabeth deserves a better, wealthier man, Hamish continues to turn away from her affection, even though he doesn't exactly want to. Can this Highlander Scot resist the tempting seductress' attempts to win his heart?… (altro)

***ARC Review Received from St Martins Press & Netgalley***

How much would you risk for the one you love? This is the question on the mind of Hamish. He wishes to marry Elizabeth, but he feels she needs to be with someone better than him. This made me love Hamish as all he wanted was to make her happy and secure. Elizabeth, on the other hand, has other ideas, she does not care whats best for her she wants her Scottish Highlander no matter what the consequences are. I loved this, it's everything I could want in a historical romance book. ( )

This is one of those books that you start and don't want to stop reading. I loved all the characters. The 4 St Claire sisters all have minds of their own and although they are being sponsors for the season by their cousin a Scottish Duke they want to marry for love not money or title.
When the Duke can't attend the season because his wife is increasing he sends two Highland substitutes. Although the girls' aunt is disappointed. The girls are delighted and as soon as the men walk through the door it is love (or lust) at first site.
Watching the ton deal with Scottish barbarians is hilarious - from Lady Jersey flirting with Hamish to a morning call where the Scottish "monkeys" performed for the snobby women who came to see them - including belching, farting, speaking in a brogue so think you could cut it with a knife and finally, Hamish offering them a glimpse of what a Scot wears beneath his kilts.
If I had any complaints about the story is that the girls all fell in love so quickly but who wouldn't when faces with Scottish handsomeness. Another complaint is that the Epilogue is hidden after the About the Author section - I almost missed it and that would have been a shame.
I received an advanced review copy of this book in return for an honest review. ( )

A wonderful romp!

What a giddy, hilarious bunch of young women are the St Claire sisters. I loved them and their quasi dragon Aunt Esmerelda, a powerful member of the ton.
And it's into this household two Scots are sent by the Duke of Caithness to stand in for him and chaperone his cousins during their London season. Well all that 'standing in' doesn't quite go to plan.
Elizabeth St. Claire is enchanted by the idea of all things to do with the Highlands and when Hamish Robb arrives she attracted to him from the very first greeting. The thing is Hamish feels he can't betray the Duke and that he's not wealthy enough for Elizabeth. A conundrum! Elizabeth is not in agreement with Hamish's sentiments.
And then of course there's Ann, Victoria and Mary! Each has a storyline that plays out quite delightfully.
There are some amusing scenes. I loved it when Lady Jersey chases down Hamish at an event and corners him in a library.
The St Claire sisters' season is like no other, peppered with wonderful scenes of mayhem and romance.

The Highlander Is All That by Sabrina York
Untamed Highlanders #3.5

The St. Claire sisters find themselves on the marriage market in London waiting for their cousin, a Scottish Duke, to arrive to make their entrance into society of greater standing. He does not show up and instead sends two Scotsmen in his place to act as guards. Four sisters will eventually find men to love but perhaps not with men they thought they would end up with when the season begins. There is romance and a kidnapping or two. There are kisses, and glamour and chases to save the kidnapped and balls with dances and beautiful outfits and wanted suitors and unwanted suitors and surprises that try to put monkey wrenches into the plans for happiness…until…the monkeys wielding the wrenches are removed.

The writing is well done and fun. The characters are varied and easy to dis/like. The couples are perfect for one another. The difficulties to overcome are believable. At the end of the story I was left feeling all had come right for the St. Claire sisters and their cousin AND some of the side characters mentioned caught my reader’s eye and made me wonder if they had stories already written that might be available for me to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press-Swerve – This is my honest review.

I was invited by the publisher to read this book and I am glad that I was. I read the previous book in the series (but honestly didn't remember what happened in it) but I feel as though it is not necessary to read the previous books in order to understand what is happening.

This book follows sisters Anne and Elizabeth as they are sponsored by their Duke cousin this season in order to find husbands. Anne, due to a previous heartbreak, does not want to get married. Elizabeth is not happy with her suitors. Their lives turn upside down when their cousin sends two of his friends, Hamish and Ranald, in his place to protect and escort the girls.

I definitely enjoyed reading about Elizabeth and Hamish more than Anne and Ranald. Anne just seemed a bit too stubborn and a bit too reserved for me. I did enjoy that the story switched between the four main characters as I feel if it would have concentrated on just one of the couples then the book would have seemed too short and would have fell flat.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley. ( )
