A Christmas tree decorated with Easter eggs? It makes sense when the tree belongs to those talented Easter Egg Artists (1976) Orson Abbott and his parents. Orson, the young rabbit who feels like a grown-up because he helps his parents with their egg-decorating work, agrees here to let the neighborhood kids (rabbits too) use his yard for a surprise Christmas party for their parents; and it's amusing to see Orson fussing like a proper grown-up to make sure that the kids wipe their feet and do their part in the preparation. In the end Orson is impressed with the kids' responsibility, his parents are impressed with his maturity, the other parents are delighted with the party, and all their offspring ""squirm happily"" at its success. Seeing everything work out so well for Adams' appealingly booted and stocking-capped little rabbit, her audience will too.

Genre: Modern Fantasy

This is an example of a modern fantasy because the rabbits are talking, planning parties, cutting down Christmas trees, and painting Easter eggs. In real life, rabbits are not able to do any of these things, especially not live in a real house like humans, or plan parties. In real life, rabbits are not able to do any of these things. Also, rabbits are not talking creatures like we are. They cannot speak English, nor do they have imaginations or creativity, and they cannot reason.
The media in this book looks like colored pencil, and it seems obvious to me that it is colored pencil because of the detailing and the colors. I also think that pen and ink might also be used, or perhaps a colored pencil with water to make the colors flow smoother. Especially on the pages with a lot of blocks of color, I could see how water could be used to make the colors flow.
Orson is the main character. As the main character in the story, I would say that Orson is a round character because at first he is not willing to do the work that the other little rabbits ask him to do. Then because he cannot say no to their cute little faces, he agrees with them and asks what he can do to help. He becomes very involved in the project, and by the end of the story Orson is a happy little rabbit that has grown to love to be in charge and be responsible. He is not afraid of hard work, and this is what makes him a round character.
