This book talks about Dr. Seuss and his journey of becoming a famous children's author. It explains how he was given a list of words to create his famous book The Cat in the Hat. He was only allowed to used the words on the list! The author provides young readers with tips on how to become the best author they can be.This book could be used as a mentor text for writing. After reading the book and showing examples of how Dr. Seuss created stories using a strict list of words, students can be provided with a list of words and asked to create their own story! ( ) This biography on Dr. Seuss is just as playful and clever as his publications, capturing his influence on young readers since the 1950’s. The illustrations are very colorful with Seuss characters depicted in their original sketches and Dr. Seuss in a more realistic light. I particularly like that the book covers how Dr. Seuss was given a list of “approved” words to use in his book. This could spark a discussion about writing creatively within specific guidelines. Included in the book are a list of Dr. Seuss books and a tutorial on how to writing and illustration by Dr. Seuss himself. This book will be a popular addition to my classroom library. My favorite books growing up were Dr. Seuss books so to learn how he created these books that everyone loves was interesting. In 1954 kids were struggling to read books finding most of the children's books boring. So, Dr. Seuss tries to write books that kids will find interesting and will want to continue reading different books. It was very hard at first, but as he kept working he eventually was able to write some of the most known books to this day. I loved how the illustrations in this book were very similar to the way Dr. Seuss' illustrations are. I found this book also to be very inspirational not just for children, but also for adults. It teaches us that even though we struggle we don't stop, and keep working hard. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
