I really enjoyed The London Eye Mystery, so I was happy to see there was a follow-up volume. It was sad to know that the second book had been conceived, but the author had not been able to write it before she died. However, the author did a good job of preserving the tone and pace of the characters and plot. Ted, Kat, and Salim are back, this time in New York, where Salim and his mother Gloria have moved. Ted and Kat visit with their mother, and while they are there, a painting is stolen from the Guggenheim Museum, where Gloria is working, and Gloria is accused of the crime. The kids are certain Gloria couldn't have done it, so they set out to prove it, and find the real thief. Because this is a middle grades novel, the pace is very brisk, the clues fall at their feet like flower petals, and everyone is very cooperative. But Ted, operating from the Autism spectrum, is also able to see patterns and details that other people, even his sister and cousin, can't, and he puts together the pieces with lightning speed. Over the course of two days, during which the two teens and the younger boy have free reign to roam all over the city via the subway, the mystery is worked out. This is a fun, light read set in a city I've visited (and a building I've explored), just as the first novel was. The future of the series seems uncertain, but perhaps the next one will be set in Helsinki or Abu Dhabi or Vancouver! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Lovely book that is easy to read and follows a very logical, well-thought out pattern for students to understand how Ted comes to his final conclusion. ( )
